7 Year Commemorative Poster

7 year commemorativeOur doors were open Nov 2007 through Nov 2014.  During that time period, our motto was to showcase the immense talent that  resided in the Bay Area as well as usher in a “New Day” for the City of Oakland.  Working hard to introduce national and international bands to our growing city.  Every 1st Friday and every Wednesday were free to the public.  We hosted numerous fundraisers for needy causes and we estimate that nearly 7000 different performers graced our stage.  Just before we closed our doors, I created this 7 year commemorative poster as a gesture of thanks to those individuals who stood out in my mind.

“Green Day is playing right here! and Leonard Cohen is playing down there at the Paramount!”

On April 15, 2009 at 12:00;  Live 105 announces that Green Day is playing a “Secret Show” at The Uptown.  Within 2 hours, a line is formed that stretched down to 19th, back up Broadway and wrapped around Sears.  At $20 a head, the show was instantly sold out.  For 3 hours, Green Day rocked the house like no other!  At the end of the show, the plaster of a wall had crumbled to the ground, sweat was dripping from every pore, and fans were grinning from cheek to cheek.  NME called it “Their smallest and sweetest show in years!”
