The Uptown Nightclub is the crown jewel of the East San Francisco Bay Area nightlife scene. In the short time since it opened under new ownership and management in November, 2007, the Uptown has been awarded the title of “The East Bay’s Best Rock Club” by the East Bay Express newspaper. Important local as well as National acts have graced the venue’s large stage. Such acts as Frank Black of the Pixies, The Germs, Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys, High On Fire, The Voodoo Glow Skuls, The Aggrolites, The Dwarves, The Blasters, Wayne Hancock and Marti Braum name a few.

With two mezzanine lounges, an outdoor courtyard and a breathtaking, beautiful bar with twelve beers in tap, the Uptown is both mammoth and intimate at the same time; it is classy with a gritty clientele. With the combination of its award-winning weekly burlesque night, its DJ Dance nights and the superb array of live music that ranges from punk to jazz, country, rockabilly, electronic, alternative and soul, the Uptown has something for everyone.

Located in the newly renovated Uptown district of downtown Oakland, it sits directly in the middle of the city’s entertainment and art district on Telegraph Avenue. In addition to prominent neighbors The Paramount Theater and the Oakland Fox Theater, The Uptown is surrounded by many art galleries and is within walking distance from the BART mass transit station.
